How to Approach a 2-Slide Healthcare Case Competition Presentation
Case competitions come in different flavors. One of the more interesting formats is a 2-slide case competition presentation: a format that sounds simple, but is deceptively hard to execute well.
These two slides are your first impression, your thought process, and your prioritization skills, all compressed into a tight format.
The Biggest Mistake in Case Competition Slides
The most common mistake in a case competition presentation is overloading slides.
I’ve seen teams:
Cram every piece of analysis into one slide
Split content into 4x4 grids
Dump data without hierarchy or flow
The result?
👉 No prioritization👉 No clarity👉 No story
It becomes a data dump, not a case solution. I can't comment on whether it works or not but it definitely goes against everything i believe a powerpoint presentation is about !
What Judges Actually Look For in a 2-Slide Case Presentation
In a case competition, especially with a limited slide format, judges are filtering for:
Clear direction
Structured thinking
Prioritization of ideas
Ease of explanation
Your slides should answer:👉 What matters most?👉 What comes next?👉 Why should anyone care?
My Approach to Consulting Case Competition Slides
Personally, I take a very different route when building a case competition presentation.
I prefer:
Visual-first slides (images, icons, structure)
Slightly asymmetrical layouts (to guide attention)
Minimal but high-impact content
Yes, it’s less “traditional.”And yes, it can sometimes feel less “formal.”
Why a Visual Case Presentation Works Better
The goal of a good case competition slide is not to impress with information—it’s to communicate clearly.
A visual approach helps:
Make information easy to scan
Keep the narrative free-flowing
Enable faster explanation during presentations
Think of it this way:👉 If you need 2 minutes to explain your slide, it’s too dense👉 If your slide guides your explanation, it’s working
The Core Principle: Clarity Over Completeness
Your slides should feel:
Easy to read
Easy to explain
Easy to remember
Not:
Exhaustive
Cluttered
Over-engineered
Pre-Final Thoughts
There’s no single “correct” way to build a case competition presentation.
But there is a wrong way:👉 Trying to say everything at once
If your slides:
Tell a clear story
Highlight key priorities
Help you present confidently
You’re already ahead of most teams.
Final Thoughts
I tried these to solve this consulting case competition. Instead of customer personas, I broke it up into niches to cater ( left panel), then used VED - used exclusively in stocking, inventory and lifecycle management of goods. Finally, my recommendations were informed via the MOSCoW framework. On the right panel, I demonstrated a sample solution to inform the execution of 1 part of the plan.
The 2nd slide, then delves into more details on the execution and timeline of delivery for solving the project.
